electric window problem

left hand front door window on my octavia ambiente will not go down. i also get a strange knocking sound from behind the door trim when i swich on the ignition. any ideas??

Hi, I'm not a mechanic but i wonder if something has come adrift with the window mechanism. Perhaps a look with the door cover off will reveal the problem? Regards. Neil

thanks for reply. garage says its corrosion on the motor and its now affecting the other electrics on thye car, i.e. electric mirrors,central locking other electric windows etc. getting it fixed on friday and my very reasonable skoda dealer from burrelton just outside perth here in scotland have agreed to pay the cost of parts and labour. the dealership is called thomson and potter and of course i highly recommend them. i'll report back on the effectiveness of this repair
